Privacy Policy
In short:
· The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
· Your playlists, favourites and viewing positions are stored on your TV — we operate no servers that receive them.
· Video plays directly between your TV and the sources you add. We never receive, proxy, record or monitor what you watch.
· The optional weather display derives an approximate city from your internet connection via third-party services. You can turn it off at any time.
Who we are
Orva Player (the “App”) is published by EightyTwo, an independent software publisher based in the United Arab Emirates. You can reach us at support@orvaplayer.tv. This policy explains what information the App handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. It covers the App on Samsung Smart TVs and this website (orvaplayer.tv).
1. Information stored on your TV
The App keeps the following on your television, in storage private to the App:
- Playlist details you add — M3U addresses and, for Xtream-style sources, the server address, username and password;
- favourites and favourite folders, your last-watched channel, and resume positions for films and episodes;
- your settings and your acceptance of the first-run notice;
- cached copies of channel lists and catalogues derived from your playlists, so the App starts quickly.
This information does not leave your TV except as described in section 2, and we cannot see it. You can remove it at any time: delete a playlist to remove its credentials, use Settings → Clear cached channel & library data and Clear watch history, or uninstall the App — uninstalling deletes all App data from the TV.
2. Information that leaves your TV
a. Your playlist sources
When you add a playlist, the App connects directly from your TV to the source you specify to fetch the channel list, programme guide (EPG), channel logos and artwork, and the streams themselves. Those connections are between you and your source: like any internet connection, the source will see your TV’s IP address, along with any credentials contained in the playlist you supplied. We are not a party to these connections, receive none of this traffic, and have no relationship with any content source. Their privacy practices are their own.
b. Weather (optional)
If the weather display is enabled — you are asked at first run and can change it any time in Settings — the App periodically requests:
- an approximate location (city and coordinates) derived from your internet connection’s public IP address, from ipapi.co or, as a fallback, ipwho.is; and
- current conditions for those coordinates from Open-Meteo.
Any internet request necessarily discloses your public IP address to the service answering it — that is how the approximate location is derived. The App sends nothing else: no identifiers and no viewing information. The resulting city and temperature are held in memory only and are not stored. Requests repeat roughly every 30 minutes while the feature is on; when it is off, no weather requests are made at all. These providers’ own privacy policies govern their processing.
c. Phone pairing (where available)
Some versions of the App can add a playlist via a QR code scanned with your phone. If you use this, the playlist link you submit on your phone travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our pairing service, is held only until your TV collects it or the pairing code expires (a few minutes), and is then deleted. We do not log playlist links or use pairing data for any other purpose. If your version does not show the QR option, no pairing service is contacted.
d. Support
If you email support@orvaplayer.tv, we receive your email address and message and use them only to handle your request.
3. What we do not do
- No accounts or registration. No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting. No advertising and no advertising identifiers. No sale or sharing of personal information.
- We never receive, store, proxy, cache, re-stream or record video, and we keep no record of what you watch. Resume positions exist only on your TV.
- We keep no server-side copy of your playlists or credentials.
4. The Samsung platform and purchases
The App runs on Samsung Smart TVs and is distributed through Samsung’s app store. Samsung’s own services (Smart Hub, your Samsung account) are governed by Samsung’s privacy policy. If paid features are offered, payment is processed by Samsung Checkout: Samsung handles the transaction, and we do not receive your card or bank details.
5. Security
App data lives in storage private to the App on your TV. Connections to our own services — the weather providers above and, where available, the pairing service — use HTTPS. Connections to your playlist sources use whatever those sources offer; many IPTV sources use unencrypted HTTP, in which case data exchanged with that source (including credentials embedded in playlist addresses) is not encrypted in transit. Choose sources you trust.
6. Retention
- On your TV: until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Pairing service (where used): minutes at most, as described above.
- Support email: as long as needed to handle your request, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
7. Your rights and choices
Because your data lives on your TV rather than with us, the most direct control is on the device: toggle the weather display in Settings, clear cached data and watch history, delete playlists, or uninstall the App. Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU or UK GDPR or similar laws) you may also have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data, and to complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise any right in relation to data we actually hold — in practice, support correspondence and transient pairing data — contact support@orvaplayer.tv.
8. Children
The App is a playback tool, includes no content of its own, and is not directed at children. What can be watched depends entirely on the sources added to it.
9. International transfers
The third-party services named above may process requests in countries other than your own. Connections to your playlist sources go wherever those sources are hosted.
10. Changes to this policy
When our practices change we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted in the App or its store listing.
